Peter Ortel
 

Original signed wood carving by Caricature Carvers of America member Peter Ortel. Peter is a retired New York City fireman. This carving represents the lighter side of Peter’s association with FDNY. Peter was the winner of the “Best of Show” and “People’s Choice” awards at the 2000 International Woodcarvers Congress in Davenport, IA. This basswood carving is 8” tall, including the base and is finished in light acrylic washes. Steve Prescott

Original signed wood carving by Caricature Carvers of America founding member Steve Prescott. Steve has been carving cowboys in and around Ft. Worth, TX for over 20 years. His book, “Cowtown Carving,” epitomizes his cowboy style of caricature carving. “I Can’t Afford a Harley” is carved in basswood and is finished in light acrylic washes. Jack Price

Original signed wood carving by Caricature Carvers of America founding member Jack Price. Jack was the first to make famous the art of carving compact caricatures. He has published two books on this subject. His figures usually stand to majestic heights of two to three inches. The six examples in this carving are typical of Jack’s style, with the tallest being a whopping 3 1/8” from head to toe. These basswood “Compact Characters” are finished in light acrylic washes and mounted on a 1 1/2” x 9” base.
