Eldon
Humphreys, a resident of Guelph, Ontario, is a retired Chief
Superintendent of the Ontario Provincial Police.
When
he started carving in 1983, he soon found that the art of caricature
carving fit right in with his ability to see the humorous side
of things. He used caricature to show the funny side of police
work, something he knew very well.
He
soon began carving a wide variety of subjects in this style,
and that was the beginning of a wonderful new career. He has
since become better known for his Scottish carvings including
a 29-piece pipe & drum band. His Scottish
carvings reflect his heritage and the area where he lives.
Carving
and teaching carving have become a way of life for him. Winters
are spent in Naples, Florida, where he is a member of the Golden
Gate Carving Club. Eldon teaches carving using the carve-along
method at his seminars for woodcarving clubs.
He
is Past-President of both the Mississauga and Lake Huron Wood
Carvers and a former Vice-President of the Ontario Wood Carvers.
He is a member of the Affiliated Wood Carvers and the National
Wood Carvers, and was invited to become a member of the Caricature
Carvers of America is 1996.
Eldon
is available to teach woodcarving seminars. His carvings are
available for sale and he accepts commission work.
